Would you have any advice on doing this? I don't care about the license for W10 as I got it for free and I have several other computers that fit the bill much more substantially. I'm about ready to test out either a super stripped down version of Windows 7 or, more accessible to me, a version of Windows 8 (not 8.1) that runs on my wife's 6 year old netbook with much worse specs- that little laptop runs Terraria perfectly.

I believe the problem is probably a mix between being unable to update to later versions of Windows 10 that enable a bit more control over the environment and the frustrating fact that all of the tablet input software is smashed together within the same processes that I can't really distinguish between regular services and specialized device-specific options. Disabling every single "Aero" style in Windows did next to nothing. I've used a few different bloatware removal tools to kill ALL of the Dell and other such nonsense but it still leaves me with just a little under 9gb, and every Windows Update requires 10gb internal and 10gb external. Even with the largest USB flash drive you can imagine, the internal memory is still a paltry 32gb which is devoured just by Windows itself. I guess I was right assuming that all the software for the tablet side of things can eat up resources, but here's the (long) problem the thing didn't come with enough memory to update Windows 10 and I'm practically "stuck" at the version that came before the creators update and earlier, such as the taskbar updates, etc. Hey, thank you for your extremely helpful insight, I'm sorry it's taken me a bit to respond. I know better than to go to the Steam Terraria forums for anything especially serious, I just thought I'd cast the line here first and later on I'll explore more serious options. As an aside, do you guys think the Tablet software/drivers in Windows 10 can cripple performance in games like Terraria? I already own 2 laptops and a bunch of gaming desktops, but this little guy is nice and compact, I will be using it for work, and I'd be tickled pink if I could get it to do some gaming for things like Terraria, Factorio, Starbound, etc. It's got 4gb of RAM and I have the Radeon allocating 1.5-2gb of that memory and nothing improves.

I was wondering if anyone here had experience with tweaking a PC to run Terraria specifically? I'm thinking of getting rid of Windows 10 on this thing and going with a much earlier OS, but I'm not sure if the horrible framerate (barely get above 10 FPS with most of the tweaks available in Windows and the Radeon Software) is due to the device probably lacking any sort of decent graphics in the 2D department. It does 3D graphics somewhat decently with the onboard Radeon R4, but anything 2D is an absolute sludge bomb. I got a Dell Inspiron 3000 whatever tablet/laptop all in one for free yesterday.
